Puff up the Volume

This season’s newest must have item is shaping up to big, bold and larger than life, you guessed it I’m talking about the puffy sleeve trend!

Since first debuting on the runways in 2018 the puffy sleeves have returned each season, yet is finally having its moment this 2021 season.

Reimagined is so many iterations, exaggerated sleeves are more than just are fleeting trend from variations of balloon sleeves to Victoria-inspired shirts, the billowing sleeve trend just keeps getting bigger.

In this week’s blogpost, I’ve taken this trend one step further and opted for a shirt dress with exaggerated sleeves. Often when embracing fresh bold trends, it can be smart to play it safe selecting tops over outfits, however I skipped that step and dived head first into embracing the puffy sleeve in all its glory.

You may have noticed that in most boutiques you will be stretched to find the basic tee this season, but rather the dominating sleeves will be your go-to option, even the simplest of tees are coming with an exaggerated sleeve.

The trick to sporting this trend is to be daring and pair minimalist pieces with statement sleeves for an on-trend yet effortless look.

If looking at some tops the sleeves may feature a chiffon fabric which can look very chic. The puffy sleeve trend has an ultra-feminine vibe, appealing to the lovers of all things pretty and elegant.

If you want to take it one step further and embrace a power play outfit such as the one that I am wearing, you can find the dress at misguided. It features balloon sleeves and skirt finish even though is one dress.

The shirt dress pulls over and has a tie neckline resembling something of a Victorian inspired piece. The waist features rouching making if an extremely comfortable day dress. Not for the faint hearted, you will be sure to make a statement in a head to toe puffy inspired outfit.

Style your look simply and left the puff do the talking, as you can see very little accessories are needed for this look and best to keep it minimal.

When pairing pieces with your puff sleeve tops try denim shorts for a summer look or even wear a pleated skirt for a super chic look. The next time you’re looking to dip your toes in a new trend be sure to make it puffy!
