Block Out

Bold, unapologetic and eye-popping, it’s time to turn your attention to colour block knitwear! Just when you thought you nailed your Winter basics, we’ve been thrown a curveball with some serious colour blocking knits to grab your attention.

In this week’s blogpost, I’ve put together a chic cosy Winter weekend look featuring colour block knitwear. Try something a  little lighter and brighter to see out the final month of Winter. I’ll break this week’s look down with tips and tricks on how to master colour blocking and believe me it’s a lot easier than you might think!

To recreate and master colour blocking, start by searching and selecting a knitwear piece that is going to compliment your existing basics. Often colour block tops and knits will look quite bold and confronting on the hanger, however when paired with the right pieces it can quickly put your fears to rest.

The colour block Knit that I am wearing is available from new season H & M. I love the pink tones and touch of brown, quite different to my beige uniform basic knits but to be honest, exactly what my Winter wardrobe so desperately needed. It features a pull over style and high neckline, the fabric is uber warm and feels like a mini blanket when wearing it.

Now the best thing about Knitwear (aside from the warmth factor) is that it is effortless enough to team with just about anything. For the purpose of this look, I wanted to introduce a high fashion element so I paired this midi pleated skirt for a touch of style.

Alongside my black skinny jeans, the pleated skirt has become such a wardrobe staple and personal favourite that I can wear all year around. You will find the pleated skirted in most boutiques, Zara & H & M offer great options.

A side note on pleated skirts, they can of course be paired with ankle boots however the shoe of choice is still the faithful white sneaker. Oozing simplicity and offering endless versatility, the sneaker/sweater combo will have you earning some major street style cred!

By the last month of Winter it’s almost too depressing to look at another chunky knit, however who can say no to a pretty pink Sweater! The next time that you are looking for a feel-good Winter purchase to brighten up your day,  try an eye popping colour block knit!
