Street Style x Luxe Sequins

Sequins and Street Style are three words you thought you would likely  never hear in the same sentence! Synonymous with the festive/party season, sequins are breaking free of their timely constraints and fast becoming something we can wear all year round! #ootd?!

Arriving on the fashion scene late last year, it seems that 2020’s approach to sequins is less high-octane glamour and instead concentrates on high/low styling. Think hints and touches of sequins paired with distressed denim and white sneakers.

In this week’s blogpost, I’ve put together a low-maintenance street inspired look featuring sequins! The fastest way to dress down your sparkly pieces (and achieve more mileage), is to pair them with denim.

To recreate this look, start by choosing a sequin piece that you would like to work into your everyday wardrobe. This super lightweight bomber jacket that I am wearing is (available from Decjuba).

It’s extremely versatile and can be worn all year round. Crafted from  mesh, nylon and sequin fabrics, this luxe bomber jacket features stretch trimmings. Turning heads for the right reasons, the splashes of sequins sparkle perfectly in different lights.

Next, I opted to team this CK (Calvin Klein) grey print tee for street style edge. The pairing of sequins against a print tee gives the a outfit relaxed vibe.

Worn open, the bomber jacket just sits lighly over the shoulders and breaks up the sequins. As seen in some images, I have zipped up the jacket completely just to show you what it looks like. For a daytime look, I prefer to keep it open.

Pair a light wash denim cropped jean with this bomber jacket as it offsets the black. Styling tip, roll the cuffs up on your jeans (if full length) to create a cropped look which is ideal for Summer outfits.

Light wash denim is always a great option to go to in Summer, as it keeps your look fresh. Finish off your outfit with a pair of white sneakers and circle belt for street style status. The next time your shopping and see sequins..think street-style!
