Twirl your way into the Spring/Summer season ‘19 in a midi-pleated skirt. From vibrant fuchsia pinks to muted metallic tones, the pleated skirt is once again surpassing its reputation as a one hit wonder and making a serious case for a SS 19’ must-have!
Scroll through earlier blog posts (here) and you will notice I first embraced pleats in the form of a vibrant purple midi-length skirt.
This time round, I’ve opted for a chic metallic silver/grey midi skirt to bring a hint of romance and glam to my wardrobe.
The best thing about pleated skirts is that you can make them work for you in countless ways, from dressed down street inspired looks to chic and glam.
The pleated skirt that I am wearing is available from H & M (in-store) and features an elastic waistband with a midi-length finish.
When opting for the perfect pleated skirt, it pays to look at the existing pieces in your wardrobe and determine which colour will give you the most mileage.
Bright shades typically work well with paired with uniform colours, whilst minimalist tones will provide a hint more choice for Summer.
Pleated skirts will literally do ALL the work for you when putting an outfit together, so once you find the perfect piece the hard work is done!
Most pleated skirts are also extremely comfortable, with the majority having waistbands, they can easily be worn through out a long day.
Steering away from the ultra-feminine look I first styled my purple pleated skirt with, I opted to create a romantic edgy look by introducing lace to the outfit.
I teamed this black lace blouse (from H& M) with the skirt, worn slightly tucked in. The detail of the blouse is unique and the sleeves slightly flare out with a scalloped finish. For a dressed down lace look, team a camisole underneath and a pair it with acid wash denim shorts.
Finish off your look with a pair of embellished sandals and a chic clutch and your look is complete!
