Houndstooth Hero

From Victoria Beckham to Balmain and of course Chanel, houndstooth print is making its presence once again felt in the fashion world and the heavy hard hitting labels are embracing it with open arms.

An icon in its own right, houndstooth has graced the runways more times than leopard print yet once again has made its arrival in 2019. However, there is something different about how we are wearing houndstooth in 2019, it’s a little more relaxed and slightly off-course.

Zara has produced some great replicas of the runway hits while offering pants, jackets and skirts. This season its more about teaming relaxed separates with houndstooth compare to matching a whole ensemble.

In this week’s blogpost I’ll show you how to style houdnstooth print and put together an effortless casual striped down version featuring the Palermo Lioness blazer. Boarding on the minimalist/monochrome side of things, houndstooth is very much a statement print all on its own.

The key is to play it slightly safer and work contrasting colours into your outfit, don’t over complicate your look but rather pay homage to the classic piece that it is.

This Palermo Blazer is available from Lioness at David Jones. The houndstooth blazer features double breasted jacket with gold toned buttons at the front and end of sleeves. With a relaxed finish, this blazer maintains a smart yet chic edgy look that is perfect for weekends and entirely different from anything corporate.

Next, keep your look up-to-the minute stylish, by teaming a print tee with your blazer for understated elegance.

Print tees are always a stand out when teamed with a blazer and unless your turning up to a corporate boardroom there is nothing else that is going to execute this look quite like it.

The print tee that I am wearing is from Bardot, which gives the outfit a slight uniform touch.

Finish your look off by pairing your favourite pair of jeans with the blazer. Probably the hardest choice when I was putting this outfit together was to opt for a boyfriend jean or black skinny leg jeans.

Blazers work well paired with a range of denim washes and styles just work it with what you have in your wardrobe.

Team a tan loafer with your look and accompanying bag and your chic on-trend weekend look is complete. Loafers make a great choice for wearing in this spring weather and compliment most looks.
