Pop of Purple

Put the Winter blues behind you and get excited for bold splashes of lilac purple, button down shirts and statement hair pins! Dip your toes in some of the biggest trends of the season and don’t look back!

In this week’s blogpost, I’ve put together this chic Winter go-anywhere ensemble with an injection of colour! Boarding on the preppy look, I wanted to experiment with something a bit different with colour and still that will work with my wardrobe basics.

The fastest way to bring your look up to date is to mix wardrobe staples with on-trend pieces, which is exactly what I have done with this week’s outfit. The best thing about wearing brighter shades is that they do lot of the work for you and your job is to just piece everything together.

Starting with this purple orchid shirt available from Witchery, simply look to the existing pieces in your wardrobe to piece together your outfit. I loved the look of a shirt and rarely have anything other than a denim shirt in my wardrobe, so the purple was a great change and that could be easily layered/mix or matched with.

This shirt features a concealed half placket, button up collar, hi-lo hemline and statement wide sleeve cuffs. The shirt is quite long in length so you might need to tuck it into a high-waisted skirt/jeans/pants.

I have always loved the combination of black and purple together so naturally I looked to team this Kookai leather A-Line skirt with the shirt.

Leather is a great option especially in the Winter season, as it still looks weather appropriate there is a certain amount of edge leather brings to an outfit which doesn’t confuse the looks.

This skirt has been in my wardrobe for so many seasons yet is such a winter wardrobe staple that it simply works so well!

Accessories play a HGUE part in this week’s outfit, firstly I opted to team this black patent ankle boot with my skirt. It has a mini stiletto heel and doesn’t over power the outfit.

Focusing next on my hair, I am loving the hair pink trend right now and moving into slogan and statement words this Sportsgirl hair pin was a fun addition and keeps the look up to date. (It’s entirely up to you if you want to wear hair accessories).

To finish off the look I teamed this Michael Kors purple mini tote with my look to go a little ott (after all this look is about having fun)

The next time you want to brighten up your Winter wardrobe, turn your attention to purple!
