Gold Digger: Embellish Me Regal

Timeless tweed, brushed down metalics and subtle shimmer, it’s time to go for gold! For the lovers of all things luxe, this week’s couture inspired look will have you jumping for joy and for the hard-core minimalists…it may just win you over!

In the midst of the season of rainy days, biker boots, and chunky knits it’s time to look the other way and embrace the glam side of life (yes even in the middle of winter)!

There comes a certain point in the Winter season when getting dressed feels like a downright chore! Like it or not, the cooler weather has a way of dictating our OOTD (outfit of the day) from head to toe!

Every now and then it’s worth veering off the straight and narrow for something a little more exciting and thrilling. In this week’s blog post, I’ve put together a luxe metallic look that is perfect for an glam occasion and still weather appropriate.

When dressing slightly outside of our comfort zones in the Winter season, it’s important to nail the fabrics first time! Read on for more tips on how to achieve Winter glam.

Now recreating this exact look might be a touch difficult this week, as the cross-over shimmer gold top that I am wearing is how you say an ‘original’.

Having a Mother for a dress maker has sure come in handy over the years and with a recent return to her first passion I was fortunate enough to have this made for me!

However, this look is essentially about the opposite of Winter, so dig deep in your wardrobe and when shopping the boutiques look for similar styles in gold or champagne tones.

Cross over necklines, button down satin shirts and cropped tops all look great teamed with the A line skirt.

Next, when looking to invest in a short skirt in Winter it’s pays to look at tweed fabrics or even wool. Aside from the obvious “freeze element” a thicker fabric will lend itself better for teaming with tights/stockings and boots.

This skirt is available from Kookai and features a back zip, high-waisted with a belt and gold tweed pattered detail in the skirt.

A strong accomplice to a cropped top the skirt is a piece all on its own and should take first priority when putting your look together.Bring your outfit together with a few key accessories, and ever so subtle pops of colour.

As you will notice my nails are fuchsia pink at the moment which adds a ‘fun’ element to the look and lipstick just a touch brighter too in colour. Team your favourite clutch add shoes and your look is complete!
