The Statement Coat

From in your face logos splashed across every piece of clothing and accessories to the eccentric animal print, fashion has gone a little ott this Winter 19’ season, cementing itself as one of the most boldest seasons on memory.

This full-throttle ferocity has also made its way onto the runways, from asymmetrical zebra and bovine-printed dresses by Versace to the crimson snake and leopard coats at Paco Rabanne there is no denying just how downright outrageous and exciting the Winter 19’season is shaping up to be.

In this week’s blogpost, my love affair with leopard print continues, I’ll show you how to incorporate this faux fur leopard coat into your weekend wardrobe and create a look that promises to earn major street cred.

When creating a look centred around a statement piece such as this leopard print coat, it’s best to get your separates sorted first, which can shape the look entirely, thus literally making or breaking it.

For the purpose of this look, I wanted something that I could wear on weekends and give the coat a slightly more casual vibe. One of the best advantages to wearing leopard is that is does all the work for you and can quite easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

The faux fur coat that I am wearing is available from Dotti, it features functional side pockets, fully lined and is 100% Polyester. The fabric is incredibly soft and warm providing an ‘effortless finish’ and slightly more relaxed look with the easy fit.

I started by opting to team a light-wash distressed boyfriend jean with the outfit to make it accessible for daytime. The lighter denim adds a lighter tone to the overall look and compliments the leopard print giving it a slightly more ‘street vibe’.

Next team a print tee underneath the coat for ultimate street style. A logo/slogan tee is the one of the most effective and economical ways to add instant style to any look, especially paired with boyfriend jeans.

I probably own too many print tees than I care to confess but they really prove to be the ultimate wardrobe staple. This particular tee I am wearing is available from Bardot.

Bring your entire look together by choosing your accessories wisely! When teaming different styles of shoes you can opt for either a white sneaker or an low-heeled open-toed boot just as I have. The low heel keeps your look ‘street’ and the black sude adds a touch of edge. Finish off with your favourite tan bag and shades and your outfit is Insta ready!
