Hello Autumn

From grey skies, to cooler mornings and shorter days, it’s time to embrace the most challenging season to dress for (yet undeniably exciting)! Master the art of dressing for the trans-seasonal forecast by teaming oversized separates with classic wardrobe staples.

In this week’s blog post, I’ve put together my first trans-seasonal look for 2019. Incorporating some on-trend checks teamed with thee faithful boyfriend jean, this look has your weekend wardrobe covered.

Start by selecting an over-sized lightweight knit that isn’t going to completely over heat you. Remember with the Autumn weather the mornings are usually the coolest and come midday the sun is shining bright, so no need to get the chunky knits out just quite yet.

This knit top that I am wearing is available from H & M. It fits ever so slightly over-sized and features a boat neckline with a small zip at the back. It is great for teaming tees underneath as it’s loose enough to fit over.

The key advantage to a piece like this is there is enough structure in the knit to look polished and chic. When opting for different colours in knits, I always like to start with a staple grey knit, as it is the easiest to dress up or down and not to mention screams Autumn/Winter.

A grey knit will looked great teamed with white and of course black. The subtle check detail on this knit adds a touch of interest without interfering or over complicating the outfit. Team your favourite pair of denim jeans with the grey knit to add a touch of a street vibe to your look.

The best thing about distressed denim is that it can help to add a relaxed vibe to a look yet remain on-trend. Opt for lighter wash denims for a weekend look and turn to black when you want to dress up your knits. This pair of jeans that I am wearing are from Bardot. They feature a high-waist and rolled cuffs with rips throughout the jeans.

To complete this Autumn look turn to accessories to add all the finishing touches. Winter is the season to go crazy with accessories and possibly more vital to an outfit than the Summer season is (which is half of the fun of dressing for the cooler weather).

Loafers are a great style of shoe to wear in this in-between weather as they are still open at the back and perfect for the sunshine. Start to switch up your Summer sandals for something a little more closed in. Finish off the look, with a bag draped across your body.

This mini cross-body that I am wearing is by DKNY and has a soft pink finish inside. The size of this bag wont interfere with the knit and compliments the loafers too. Remember when dressing for Autumn use your existing wardrobe staples and just subtly introduce some new pieces in tops to achieve trans-seasonal status.
