Party Season 101: The LWD (Little White Dress)

Once the sun has set, it’s time to really embrace the fun of the festive season and look to the ‘LWD’ (Little White Dress) instead of the LBD.

If OTT glamour is little too much for the dress code, then opt for a chic wrap white dress and let your accessories do the talking, sparkly sandals and an evening bag with a hint of shine say, “I’ve arrived”.

While the invitations pile up, it can be over-whelming not knowing what to wear and what’s appropriate for the dress code, fill your wardrobe with investment-worthy party staples, that won’t break the bank. By starting with a staple white dress, it opens up endless versatility and nothing quite says Summer + Party, like a little white dress.

In this week’s blogpost, it’s time to turn your attention to the LWD. Summer’s version of the LBD (because let’s face it, there is no need to wear black all year round) .

The LWD will take you from long tables lunches, to evening cocktails and parties that don’t’ get started till 10.00! The dress that I am wearing is by the brand L/A Collective, which is available from Myer.

The dress features rouched detail and a metal bar at the front. It assembles together with a back zip and features a V-neckline, adjustable straps (fabric is 100% polyester). When opting to wear a white dress, remember that you can be as creative as you like with accessories and they really can change the entire look of the outfit.

With this piece, I decided to opt a higher-heel with the outfit for a touch of glam and also opted for a studded messenger bag to bring the look together. While the LBD is a great Winter piece and yes in fashion we advocate that it can be worn all year round, however white for Summer just somehow feels more authentic and an accurate reflection of the party season. Pile on the bracelets and pair a statement necklace for ultimate glam.

One of the key advantages of owning a LWD is that it can be worn to so many different occasions that by the end of the season, it will have seen more parties than you anticipated.

Individual pieces such as tops, pants can be great options too for the party season, however a dress just provides you with a starting point and an outfit all in one. It really does take the guess work out of ‘what should I wear’ and substitutes it for a great option.

Be creative with your pieces and team accessories with your outfit that will give it a little extra sparkle. For the purpose of wearing this too lunch, then it’s probably best to stay with nude accessories to keep the look day-appropriate. However for evening, you can bring out your highest of heels and a bronze tan, will help look party ready.

Have fun this festive season and remember when your faced with the ‘what should I wear’ question, pull out the little white dress and it will solve all your wardrobe dilemmas!
