Flirty Florals

Chic, femine and forever pretty, it’s time to turn your attention to this season’s floral trend. Mostly recognised as a symbol of Spring, this season’s floral trend has reversed it’s arrival time and for the first time that I can remember, it’s florals for Autumn. Stay ahead of the fashion pack and beat the Autumn/Winter blues in flirty florals.

In this week’s blog post, I’m embracing florals for the very first time, next to polka dots I have rarely dabbled in print trends…however it’s time for a change! With the trend forecast this Autumn/Winter 18 Season, it appears we will be wearing anything and everything bright, pretty and eye-catching. (A long way from the repetitive dark colour palette that usually dominates Winter)

The best thing about a brighter colour palette is that you can wear your favourite pieces all year round, providing that bit extra mileage we all so much crave in our wardrobe. When it comes to investing in a floral item, my best advice is to choose a piece in a shade that you feel comfortable wearing. For example, with each floral piece you pick up will be dominated by a block colour, (examples include, reds, yellows, greens) this particular dress is predomaintly pink with white flowers.

As I love all shades of pink, it was an easy decision choosing this piece. This shade of pink has a depth to it which unlike fushia pink for example, is designed to wear into the cooler months as it can be teamed with black pieces quite easily. Sometimes when experimenting with a new trend, if you go too far outside your comfort zone you may find that you don’t wear the piece at all and sits in your wardrobe, try to avoid this so you will get the most out of your purchase.

The style and design of the dress (available from Bardot) is very stuructred and crafted from a light chiffon fabric, allowing it to flow. The back features a full zip with detailing crossover, making it exta interesting and perfect if you wanted to wear it as a Summer piece too. This piece sits closely to the body, but in a more comfortable effortless way that allows for movement and flow.

It really is the kind of dress that you could wear all day and still be comfortable in. If you prefer to ease into the floral trend slowly, then start with a top instead of a dress. Tops are probably the easiest pieces to work into your wardrobe and for a touch of edge team with denim for a flirty yet strong outfit.

Florals teamed with the right accessories equals perfection! Florals are meant to be fun to wear and why not add some of your favourite bold pieces to compliment them. I opted to team a pair of pink cat-eye sunglasses with the dress for an attention-catching fun. With this dress, I didn’t need to team a necklace, however I did choose to add some pieces on my wrist.

To introduce a touch of edge to the look, I opted for this Country Road studded clutch. For the in-between weather, team a light-denim jacket over your shoulder for extra warmth. Also note, that when the cold weather does set in, pair tights and a trench coat over the dress for an on-trend look. Next time your shopping for pieces for this trans-seasonal period, try out florals for a fun change!
