Are you an “I wear colour only in the Summer” type of person? Tempting as it is to fall into the all-black-everything habit, especially during the trans-seasonal period, try adding a pop of colour for something fresh. Turn your attention to the street-style crowd in either New York, London, Milan or Paris during Fashion Week and your eyes would have been overwhelmed with brightness.
From jackets in lemony yellow to magenta pants and pops of cobalt, an inspiration to embrace the rainbow all year-round. In this week’s blogpost, I’ll show you how to work this bright orange piece into your trans-seasonal wardrobe. Start by selecting a top to style your outfit around, this strapless orange top that I am wearing is available from Kookai. The best thing about something like this piece, is that it’s great for layering under jackets as well as wearing on it’s own.
For locals, you probably have noticed that the Perth weather is still sunny and warm, this piece becomes a great option when you stuck on the usual choices. Other styles, such as the cold shoulder tops or even a body suit are also ideal options for working colour into your wardrobe.
(Kookai offer a range of styles, in a variety of colours). Avoid long sleeve tops or wool pieces as they can be too over-powering and aren’t easily layered as the lighter tops are.Next, when coordinating a whole outfit of colour blocking, it’s important to make sure you team the rights colours.
As we are in the trans-seasonal period, I opted for a pair of black wide leg pants (available from Bardot) Alternatively you can opt for a pair of white jeans or chambray, however I wanted to give a winter touch to the look and find the combination of orange and black striking.
As this particular style of strapless top is short in length, its best to choose a pair of high-waisted pants to wear with it, as it will look the most polished. When it comes to teaming jackets with the outfit, as you can see below I chose a light-denim jacket, as I wanted to keep the look fresh.
However you can always add a black leather jacket for a touch of glam, which will also help to take the look from day to night. With the days being warm and the nights getting cooler, its a good idea to have a go-to jacket that you can use for this season.
Accessories play a major part in this outfit, so don’t be afraid to pile on as much as you like. Especially with the boldness of the top, I wanted to incorporate a statement necklace that complimented the look, yet was still striking.
As you see the piece that I am wearing is long in length and features plenty of detail to help add interest to the top. Finish off your outfit, with a statement bag, the one that I am wearing is available from Mimco and comes in patent with rose-gold detail.
The impact of the bag will also help to add an element of surprise to your outfit. Team your favourite pair of shoes, and your outfit is complete. Remember that when it gets colder, just reach for your favourite jacket to drape over your shoulders and this is another option for the in-between weather.
