The Winter Edit

If waking up to the chilled cold morning air at 6.00am isn’t hard enough to cope with, try creating the perfect stylish winter outfit before you step out of the door…..yep almost impossible! While we are in the dead middle of winter I thought I would dedicate this week’s post to the perfect stylish winter outfit that will actually keep you warm and on-trend and with just three key pieces I can show you how to create the perfect staple look.

One of the biggest challenges I find when dressing in the Winter weather is attempting to feel warm without compromising style. Over the past few weeks, I decided to takeĀ advantage of the June sales to get some key pieces working into my everyday wardrobe. Firstly, I suggest investing in a wool coat in either black or cream (or both if possible) and then assemble your look around this key piece. The coat I am wearing in the images is from Portmans and I instantly fell in love with the cut and design of the coat, it gave me shape without overpowering the rest of my outfit. When looking to invest in a coat, always try multiple styles on and ensure it will give you the versatility to use for multiple functions.

When it comes to layering, which is almost essential when the cold weather hits, opt for knits that will compliment your look and most importantly provides another layer of warmth. To keep your outfit looking on-trend,choose a knit that features a print which will help to ensure your outfit has the much needed edge. The knit I am wearing is from Marcs and was a steal in the June sales and is a composition of cotton, wool, cashmere. Try experimenting with over- sized knits for a laid back weekend style and swap boots for white sneakers for a completely different look.

To pull your look together, I strongly suggest investing in a pair of ripped blue denim jeans. By introducing an edgy pair of ripped jeans the outfit will remain strictly for the high fashion stakes and also will make a great addition to your weekend wardrobe. Stores such as Zara, Topshop and Bardot all offer a great selection of jeans (the pair I am wearing are from Zara). Another hint to remember is that when introducing a lighter denim it helps to break up the dark colours of your look and steers away from all black.

Add a tan pair of ankle boots for a splash of colour which helps to pick up the lighter tones in your outfit. Introduce a cross body bag for style and team minimal accessoires with your look for a complete style.
