H&M Style

So believe it or not I finally made it to the newly opened H&M store in Joondalup Shopping Centre! The hype surrounding H&M’s opening was the equivalent of when stores such as Zara or TopShop opened, which equalled huge! From the moment I stepped foot in the store it was evident to see just why there was so much excitement surrounding this iconic international retailer.

If you were fortunate enough to be one of the very first customers in the store then you would have had a chance to have an in-depth  look at everything by now, but if you are yet to visit the shop, then be prepared to be very overwhelmed…in the best possible way!

I thought I would arm myself properly and prepare a mini list of the items that I really did ‘need’, you see this way I hoped that it would help get me less distracted and would be able to focus soley on these items. But do you think that ended up being the case….absoutley not! The word ‘overwhelming’ comes to mind when I first stepped in the store, however I decided to just select items as I’m shopping, so I could take as many clothes into the change rooms at once. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you will look first then go back to grab the items you liked….shopping in H&M just doesn’t work that way! From accessories, to swimwear, footwear, denim, apparel and even sleepwear, it’s highly likely that you will end up walking out with more than one item, just as I did!

For some time now, I have been specifically on the hunt for a pair of light denim jeans, so when I decided to visit H&M they were definitely on the top of my list. With a dedicated section for denim in the store, I knew I had come to the right place. With the staff being so helpful as as well trying on 4 different pairs, I finally decided on these ones that you can see in the pics.

I love the cut and style of the jeans, next to boyfriend jeans, skinny leg jeans are my next go-to choice, so I was beyond excited when I had found this pair. Not to mention, unlike previous shopping trips where I have to try on countless pairs of jeans just to have to end up settling, H&M just offered so many variations of cuts that all the hard work was done for me. It really is matter of personal style.

With so many different ways to style and wear your denim, I chose to team this turtle neck sleeveless cropped knit top from Kookai. I also added a pair of block heels with the look and introduced a tan cross body bag for some edge.

I often love to wear simple yet classic looks, so if you do own a pair of light denim jeans, then black will always work well, as it will add a ‘wow’ factor to your outfit. While I do love white teamed with light denim, it can however look washy on those with lighter complexions, so a touch of black is a good balance. Accessorize this look however way you please, there really are no rules so don’t be afraid to experiment with statement pieces. I expect these light denim jeans will be on rotate for the coming months!
